MOST LOVED ARTWORKS: John Baldessari’s I am making art, I have loved this piece for many years, and often wonder, am i making art?

ALL TIME FAVE BIKE FILM: Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure. Can’t get enough of his laugh!

MOST MEMORABLE GIFT EXPERIENCE: Every time I give someone a gift, I love gifting.

MOST LOVED ARTWORKS: There are so many! I am a lover of art in general. Some of my favourite artists are Monet, Emily Carr and I especially like David Hockney’s “joiners” because he incorporates two things I love the most in the art world, photography and film. I am attracted to artists who begin stylistic trends and challenge the norm in varying ways through their art, rather than following or copying in the footsteps of others.

ALL TIME FAVE BIKE FILM: Most movies I’ve seen with a character travelling by bike are pretty cool. A couple recent ones that pop to mind are Eat Pray Love and Moonrise Kingdom.

MOST MEMORABLE GIFT EXPERIENCE: The act of gifting to someone else. I much rather prefer attention be on someone else that I care about and love it when I can make someone smile by giving them something big, or small, as a token of how I care. My favourite gift that I have received is not materialistic, but rather experiential - all the memories of great times with people I have met and said goodbye to now, and people who are in my life currently.

MOST LOVED ARTWORKS:
My sister’s art and photography. I love how fearless she is and her portraits rock. But I also adore Klimt.
ALL TIME FAVE BIKE FILM:
Now and then. A bike road trip with transistor radios in the 70’s. Enough said.
MOST MEMORABLE GIFT EXPERIENCE:
Apart from receiving heartfelt and handmade gifts like poems and recipes, I would have to say one of my most cherished gifts is the day my mother enrolled me in french immersion. J’adore that I have the ability to speak and communicate in another language.

MOST LOVED ARTWORKS:
Takao Tanabe, Gordon Dick, James McGuire, Andy Goldsworthy and Dale Chihuly.

ALL TIME FAVE BIKE FILM:
Goonies!

MOST MEMORABLE GIFT EXPERIENCE:
During Papergirl Calgary 2012, Andree Anne Laberge submitted a particularly memorable artwork.  It was very large and emotive, and incredibly special.  I’d been cycling through the river valley with it for most of the day, awaiting the magic combination of gift and recipient – this was going to be the ultimate giftervention!  In the end, the recipient was a lovely woman who, upon unwrapping her new art, began to cry.  The mix of a magnificent (and unexpected) gift, major life events, some recent hard times, and a bikeload of smiling faces and positive energy was so overwhelming for her.  It was ethereal!

MOST LOVED ARTWORKS:
Most loved artworks are murals, street art is fast becoming my favourite art form. I love the classics like Keith Haring & Jean Michel Basquiat but there are so many great contemporaries!

ALL TIME FAVE BIKE FILM:
All time fav bike film has to be the one I made, here’s the link:

MOST MEMORABLE GIFT EXPERIENCE:
When I gave myself permission to be creative and passed that on to monkeyboy, when we took part in PaperGirl last year, it really opened my eyes to the possibilities that life can be filled with art for us and others!

FAVOURITE THING ABOUT PAPERGIRL: The idea of giving someone something beautiful for no other reason then to spread a love of art.

MOST LOVED ARTWORKS: Judy Chicago’s The Diner Party for being a stunning and comprehensive work of art as well as a beautiful history of feminism. Second would be Cindy Sherman’s Untitled Film Still Series. So many personalities, places, and atmospheres. I love what a camera and some makeup can create!

ALL TIME FAVE BIKE FILM: The Karate Kid. Best way to make a new friend is to fix their trashed bike.

FAVOURITE THING ABOUT PAPERGIRL: It’s a simple gesture! taking art further into the public realm is important especially for Calgary - people in this city move far to fast.

MOST LOVED ARTWORK: I’ve really, really been digging the paintings of Basquiat recently. His work is complex and beautiful yet still has a free innocence to it -  a simple idea, but one I feel that I have never considered in my own art making. I admire his
ability to let things get out of his hands and to just go-with-the-flow of the moment.

ALL TIME FAVE BIKE FILM: Bicycle Thieves from 1948 - sneaky bike thieves in black and white, brilliant.

FAVOURITE THING ABOUT PAPERGIRL: Its direct approach. I really think it’s important to reach out to the community and it’s such a charming and positive way to do that!

MOST LOVED ARTWORK:  When it comes to most things I’m really eclectic so picking a single favourite piece of art is so difficult. I think I can say my two most favourite visual artists are currently Sigalit Landau and Allison Schulnik. With Landau I am really drawn to her ability to attack heavy political subjects in a way that is more lighthearted as well as her use of performance and everyday materials. Schulnik’s work is very different but I appreciate the characters she creates and her ability to make them fantastical, dreamy, desolate and perverse.

ALL TIME FAVE BIKE FILM: The beginning of Made In Dagenham when all the women who work in the factory are biking in to work together! I wish this was something I experienced frequently or, ever.

FAVOURITE THING ABOUT PAPERGIRL: Re-defining the cultural, and social capital of art, removing it from the economic sphere and embracing it in the relational aesthetic / gift spheres.

MOST LOVED ARTWORKS: John Baldessari’s I am making art, I have loved this piece for many years, and often wonder, am i making art?

ALL TIME FAVE BIKE FILM: Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure. Can’t get enough of his laugh!
